DIGITAL ITEM Halloween Movies sock pattern set

Halloween Movie Night sock set includes two Halloween sock patterns inspired by scary movies. I really enjoy watching scary movies as part of our Halloween preparations and activities. Once my kids were sadly too old for trick or treating, this became our favourite activity to do together (while eating Halloween candy of course). These two colourwork sock patterns are perfect for knitting or wearing during any scary movie watching or for any other spooky activities! 

Haunted House socks
Knit from the top down, starting with a ribbed cuff and a colourwork section of a haunted house scene on the leg. There are a few three colours in one round details, but these can be duplicate stitched on if preferred. The rest of the leg and foot continue on with fun-to-knit two colour alternating stripes. These socks have a contrast colour ribbed heel flap and gusset construction

Sizing
1 (2, 3)
To fit (leg circumference): 20.5 (22.5 – 24, 26.5 – 29) cm / 8 (9 ½ , 11 ) inches 
Finished leg circumference: (17.5 (21, 25) cm / 7 (8 ½ , 10 ) inches 
To fit (foot circumference): 18  – 19.5  (20 – 23,  23.5 – 24.5) cm / 7 ½  (8 ½ , 9 ½ ) inches 
Finished foot circumference:  16.5 (19, 21) cm / 6 ½  (7 ½, 8 ½) inches  

Leg/foot length can be easily adjusted. See instructions for details.
Sample shown is knit in size 2 for shoe size US 8.5 (EU 39, UK 6), foot circumference 8 ¾ inches (22.5 cm). 

MATERIALS 
Yarn - Fingering weight sock yarn
MC, CC2 & CC3: La Bien Aimee BFL Tough sock yarn (75% Bluefaced Leicester Wool, 25% Nylon/Polyamide), 425m (465 yds) per 100g
CC1: La Bien Aimee Merino Super sock (75% Superwash Merino, 25% Nylon), 425m (465 yds) per 100g.
Any fingering weight sock yarn can be used for this sock pattern, as long as you can obtain the same gauge.

**Needles**
For ribbing and stockinette: US 1 (2.25mm), 32-inch (80-cm) circular for magic loop, or DPNs, or two circulars, or a 9-inch (23-cm) circular needle (as preferred).
For colorwork size 1: US 1.5 (2.5mm), 32-inch (80-cm) circular for magic loop, DPNs, or two circulars, or a 9-inch (23-cm) circular needle (as preferred).
For colorwork sizes 2 and 3: US 1 (2.25mm), 32-inch (80-cm) circular for magic loop, or DPNs, or two circulars, or a 9-inch (23-cm) circular needle (as preferred).

Important note: Do check your gauge for fitting. Further sizes can be achieved by going up or down needle sizes.

**Gauge:**
34 sts x 44 rnds = 4 inches (10 cm) for ribbing and stockinette
34 sts x 38 rnds = 4 inches (10 cm) for colorwork size 1.
36 sts x 42 rnds = 4 inches (10 cm ) for colorworks sizes 2 and 3.

Screaming socks
These socks are knit from the ribbed cuff down, have a short row heel, and a scream face motif running throughout the leg and foot in only two colours. 

Sizing 
1 (2, 3)

To fit (foot circumference): 19.5 – 21 (21.5 –23.5, 26-28) cm / 8 (9 ½, 10 ¾) inches.
Finished circumference: 17.5 (21, 24.5) cm / 7 (8 ½, 9 ¾) inches.

Yarn - Fingering weight sock yarn

Any fingering weight sock yarn can be used for this pattern as long as you obtain the same gauge. Please use whatever sock yarn you have available to you.

Gauge
34 sts x 44 rnds = 10cm (4 inches) for ribbing and stockinette.
34 sts x 36 rnds = 10cm (4 inches) for colourwork. (This is the same gauge even though we are using a bigger needle size because for myself and many other knitters, we often knit the colourwork sections tighter than stockinette. Please check your own gauge to see if this works for you).
