This is a knitting pattern in English only. I do not sell the finished knitted items.
This hat was designed for the Austrian Alps retreat held by Fruity Knitting at Lake Achen in Tyrol, Austria. I wanted to create a colourwork beanie hat that would evoke memories of our time knitting together by the alps and enjoying the fresh mountain air in Autumn. I felt a colourwork hat would be a perfect accessory for us knitters to wear while trekking around the lake, taking in the breath-taking views of a mountain village.
Knit from the bottom up and worked in the round, the hat starts with a ribbed and folded brim for extra coziness. The main part of the hat features a stranded colourwork pattern depicting a mountain landscape, including flowers, Lake Achen, sailing boats and the green hills and mountains behind. There are sweet purl bump fluffy clouds in the sky, just as the stitches start to decrease for the top of the hat. The hat decreases are worked with the magic loop method or with dpns, and then the remaining few stitches are sewn together. Duplicate stitch can be used for the additional details on the boats if preferred. The pattern includes four sizes, from child to large adult size. A pom-pom can be added for some extra whimsy if desired!

This hat design was made in collaboration with Yarnadelic Sport weight yarn, provided by John Arbon Textiles.
